Question:
I replaced my RV mattress with a Zinus model SM-SC-SPP-10. Its too heavy for the original GN-200-60 60lbs. Will the 80lb work? This RV Queen mattress is 60inch x 75inch x 12. Its estimated to weigh between 50-58lbs. It sits on plywood that is hinged and allows about the lower 2/3rds of the mattress to be raised. If I order the 80lb strut and it is still not enough, can it be returned for the next size up? The struts in the catalog say 20. What does that measurement represent? Opened? Closed?

Hey Ray! What you’re seeing is pretty typical after going to a thicker foam mattress. The weight might not be drastically higher, but the leverage is, so the 60 lb struts end up feeling underpowered.
If the 60 didn’t do it, the 80 lb # RD44MR is honestly still a bit of a gamble. I’d go with the 100 lb # RD64MR to make sure it actually lifts and holds so you’re not doing this twice.
The 20" measurement is the extended length, center to center on the ball sockets. As long as your current struts are 20" extended, both of these are a direct size match.
What kind of RV are you working with?
