Video Transcript for Review of RV Designer Gas Struts - Gas Strut 20 Inch 80 LBS - RD44MR

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look at this RV Designer Gas Strut. So this gas strut is kind of like a support arm that you see holding things up like your RV doors, truck caps, or storage compartments. It's the main job's gonna make opening and closing smoother, safer, and a whole lot easier for you. This is built to last with a durable black finish.

Lining this up again here. Let me get my tape measure, measuring center of socket to center of socket. As I hope you can see, we're at 20 inches long. This is gonna give you about 80 pounds of lifting force, and that's gonna help take some of the weight off when you are lifting something like a cargo door or bed platform, instead of it slamming shut, the struts gonna control the movement. So it's going to open easily and close in a more controlled way.

As you can see, this is gonna be a ball and socket insulation. This doesn't include any hardware, it's just going to connect to your current ball attachments. It's gonna be a pretty straightforward installation, but it's gonna be pretty flexible in how you can use it. Again, RV beds, entry doors, truck caps, really any compartment that needs a little lift assistance. I think it's gonna wrap up our quick look today.

I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name's Andy. Thank you for joining me.

We replaced the gas struts on the rv king size bed that came with our 5th wheel with these because after we upgraded the mattress the original ones couldn't support the weight. These are working much better and support the weight of the bed when lifted up with no problemo. They were very easy to swap out from the original ones also.

Snapped right into place on the door of our LTV Unity RV. The perfect replacement. Thanks for your guidance and fast delivery.

Perfect fit luxe just as good or better than original equipment. I forgot how the doors closed with such forcewhen the original struts were new. Much more positive feel now no more gust of wind slamming my doors closed. Thank you E Trailer.

David did a fantastic job making sure that I ordered the correct part for my entry door. I received the strut in two days and it took just seconds to replace the broken strut. The new one fits perfectly and all is well. Thanks to David and etrailer I'm a happy camper once again!

See what our Experts say about this RV Designer Gas Struts

  • Replacement Struts for new Zinus SM-SC-SPP-10 RV Mattress
Hey Ray! What you’re seeing is pretty typical after going to a thicker foam mattress. The weight might not be drastically higher, but the leverage is, so the 60 lb struts end up feeling underpowered. If the 60 didn’t do it, the 80 lb # RD44MR is honestly still a bit of a gamble. I’d go with the 100 lb # RD64MR to make sure it actually lifts and holds so you’re not doing this twice. The 20" measurement is the extended length, center to center on the ball sockets. As long as your current...
