When your suspension starts to sag from extra weight, harsh bumps can wear you down fast. Coil SumoSprings slip between your existing coils and use a microcellular polyurethane foam core to add cushioning and support. The material compresses progressively as your load increases, giving you a smoother ride when light and firming up automatically as the weight comes on. It’s extra comfort that keeps long hours behind the wheel from feeling rough.
Extra front or rear weight can throw off balance and steering. These helper spring inserts work with your factory coils to help level your vehicle under heavy front loads like snowplows or rear loads from towing and cargo carriers. The more weight you add, the stiffer they become—helping keep your suspension steady without needing any air pressure adjustments or monitoring.
Upgrading suspension shouldn’t mean adding more parts to check or service. Unlike air springs, Coil SumoSprings don’t rely on air systems at all. There are no lines to route or fittings to leak—just a solid, maintenance-free insert that fits between the coil loops. Once installed, they quietly do their job every time you hit the road with a load behind you.
From hot asphalt to winter salt, suspension components take a beating. These helper springs are built to resist abrasion, oil, road salt, and UV damage so they keep performing season after season. They withstand extreme temperatures without breaking down or losing shape, giving you reliable support no matter where you drive.
Adding load support doesn’t have to be complicated. Each set includes two helper springs designed to install easily on front or rear coil suspensions in good working order. They fit between individual coil loops with H-shaped channels that hold securely in place—no special tools or adjustments required. Just slide them in and get back on the road with a ride that feels more stable and controlled.

I installed these on the rear of my 2017 Ford Expedition EL, hoping it would help with the ride quality and handling while towing my 6,500lb travel trailer. The box did not come with instructions, but I downloaded them from etrailer's site. Installation was fairly easy, although I did have to take the wheels off. After my first trip with the trailer (400) miles, I didn't really notice any improvement with the handling, but hopefully they are helping take some of the stress off the rear springs. These are fairly expensive for something that has no noticeable benefit, so I don't think I could recommend them.
They seemed to help with towing our popup camper on our 2012 Highlander. The popup is 2,800 pounds unladen weight. Installation was very easy. I didn’t have to remove the tires. Just jacked up the rear of the vehicle to gain a little more access and they slide right into the coils. I feel that the price was pretty steep considering all the more that they are and they couldn’t even throw in the zip ties to boot. Claimed to be made in USA, but I can only hope that they were again considering the price. All in all I’m pleased with them.
Sumo springs installed without removing tires, just used a 2 ton floor jack to lift the rear tire off the ground to put the lift spring in a negative relaxed position. Then followed instructions and cleaned springs with dish soap and water, also used solution on sumo lift coil. Coil snaked between lift springs without any problems. Placed Ty’s per instructions using a needle nose pliers to pull tyes securely in place and cut off any excess tye. Sumo are working great .!! If you haul a trailer get these springs lifts the really do work according to advertisers info.
The Sumo Springs Custom Helper Springs I purchased and installed on my 2022 Winnebago Solis 59PX have made all the difference in the way the vehicle handles. I purchased both sets of helper springs for the front and rear. They have made a huge difference. I believe they are worth the price of the products.
I installed these on our 2020 Ford Expedition this past spring. Went on super easy using a little dish soap, much easier than I had heard from other reviews/videos. Works great to prevent squat while towing our travel trailer with a 900 lb tongue weight (scale weighed). I do notice a slight increase in stiffness/jitter from the rear when not towing and vehicle is lightly loaded, but nothing that makes me want to remove them.
WAY harder to install than I thought, but once I figured out how to do it (the half-dozen YouTube videos I watched didn't really help) it went pretty easy. Far too expensive for what you get (should be a third the price at most), and didn't get any additional front lift on my brand new Promaster 2500. On the first test drive after installing them, I honestly didn't notice any difference. Time will tell. Probably could have done without them, at least for now.
Put these on my 2017 Ford Expedition EL equipped with the factory installed towing package. I tow a 2014 Winnebago 30 RE. I had used these on my previous Expedition. The tongue weight of the trailer is such that I got about 1 1/2" of "squat" when hitched (and with the weight distribution hitch correctly set). The Sumo Springs reduced the sag by about 1".
A bonus if you will is that these have no effect on ride when the trailer is not hitched to the vehicle.
These work well and are a great alternative to air shocks. They can be a bit tricky to install but with some patience and elbow grease you can get em on.
I installed these on a 2020 Honda Passport (vehicle not listed in the fitment for this product). Installation was quick and easy. These worked great to help control the squat and reduced the bounciness when the trailer was loaded. After installation, I towed a single axle enclosed trailer (6'x14') with the contents of a single bedroom apartment from New Hampshire to Michigan and I am glad I made this choice. With them installed, I have noticed a very slight stiffness when not towing a trailer, but I intend to leave them on.
Got em in! Not the easiest install, but they seem to stiffen up the ride. I’ll update after the next trailer trip...
Game changer
2005 Honda Cr-V, they went on pretty easy, it was a tight fit but no trimming required. I jacked the car up on some stands, had both sides installed and zip tied in 45 minutes..
Just finished installing these on my 2014 Ford Expedition EL Limited. Very easy to install. Never removed the wheel to install. Jacked the vehicle up one side at a time and did the install. Haven't hooked to my 30ft camper yet to see how they work. Will update after my trip in July.
OEM springs not strong enough.
After installed feels a lot stiffer and raised the back 2". Material looks really good. Installation done in 40 min using a nut driver, a flat head screw driver and hand soap. I did have to take wheel off it just makes like easier.
Pretty easy install on a Winnebago Solis, built on the Ram Promaster 3500 chassis, took about an hour to install on all 4 wheels. I only parked on a level surface and used the factory jack, didn’t even lift the van off the ground all the way but enough for clearance to install, no tire removal done. I gained about an inch of clearance which is nice for my onboard generator and hoping for a better ride on windy days. The pictures are before and after of (in order) front, rear, size difference of Sumo vs. oem and the generator.
Initial reaction is positive - I installed front and rear sumo helper springs yesterday (5-23-19) and did a test drive around the block. The side to side pitching of our Transit Class B+ motorhome was greatly reduced. I still need to test on highway. I did not install the optional spacers that increase the ride height and reaction time of the rear sumo springs. The spacers will be added later if needed.
Perfect fit on my Ridgeline
Ok installed outside january 27th. Temp 10 degree windchill -5. I used canola oil since it stays slippery when cold. I recommend taking off the tires. Also wirebrush the coil spring to get rust and debris off. Coat coil spring in canola oil. Also 1997 crv rear will require about 3/4"-1" off of the helper spring before hand. The driver side took 15-20 mins the passenger less than 5. My car rear was sagging it sits level or slightly above level now in the rear. Mileage of vehicle is 73k shocks struts and springs are original. Curt class 3 hitch is also installed on vehicle. I am curious to see how it does while pulling a 5x8 trailer. Overall seems good only time will tell. Wondering how installing two on a side would do?
Improved handling/safety significantly while towing. This is the first vehicle I used these on. I will not have another tow vehicle without Sumo Springs.
They really improved the ride and handling of my jeep
I added this to my ironman 4x4 suspension on my outback and it has helped take out off the sag.
Great product and easy to install.
