Way To Protect 7-Way Pins When The Door/Flap Has Broken Off

Updated 04/22/2026 | Published 04/17/2026

Question:

I broke the cover off of my seven pin connector on the vehicle side. Can I use this plug to protect the seven pen from moisture and dirt?

Hi Ken!

The Replacement Dummy Plug for EZ Connector Vehicle-End Trailer Connector # 319-R7-11 is a cool idea for keeping everything protected in a 7-Way, but unfortunately, it does only fit their 7-Way. I just went out to our warehouse and tested it in all the 7-Way brands we carry (Curt, Tekonsha, Pollak, Hopkins, and a couple others), and it would not fit inside any of them.

With that said, if you don't mind modifying it, you could get it to work. It will have to be turned down to reduce the diameter a bit, but it could be done. The only other option we would have would be to replace the whole 7-Way with something like the Curt Dual Connection Socket w/ Bracket - 7-Way RV Style and 4-Way Flat - Vehicle End # C36GJ or Curt Trailer Connector Adapter - 4-Way to 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat # C57672.

Sorry I don't have a better solution for you. What happened to the door/flap? Was it while you were towing or hooking up?
