Best Air Bag Kit For 2021 GMC 2500 Pulling 34' Grand Design Travel Trailer

I am looking to have Airlift kit installed on my 2021 GMC 2500 HD Sierra. I am towing a 34 foot Grand Design travel trailer. I think that a 5000 Ultimate should be adequate for my needs, but should I instead consider the 7500 Ultimate kit? Also, Im not planning on getting an onboard compressor at this time for whichever kit I purchase thinking it is a bit of a luxury item. Or should I re-think that decesion?

Hey Paul, welcome back. You are on the right track here. For your 2021 GMC 2500 pulling a Grand Design travel trailer, the Air Lift 5000 kit will be more than sufficient to level your ride and provide the stability you are looking for. I typically only ever recommend the 7500 kits for trucks with a constant heavy load in the bed like a truck bed camper or salt spreader. For typical bumper-pull towing the 5000 will absolutely give you the support you are needing.
That said, here is the kit for your GMC:
- Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Air Helper Springs with Internal Jounce Bumpers - Rear Axle # AL88341
As far as the compressor, it definitely isn't required it's just more of a convenience. The air bag kit comes with air valves you can run to the back bumper, then you can use any standard inflator to fill the bags. So, if you carry a tire inflator with you in the truck, or if you have a compressor in your garage, you can use that just the same. I do recommend at least carrying a portable compressor like part # BDW41000 with you in the truck just in case you need to adjust pressure on the fly. That really comes down to your preferences though.
How often will you be hauling your camper? Any cool trips coming up?

Any more it’s hard to find a air compressor that didn’t take quarters that pumps over 60psi especially when your camping Every time I get my load to its destination I drop the air to 5lbs For a smoother ride. Then when I back under the trailer hitch or goose neck I use the air to lift the truck up for correct alignment , a little softer drop. It’s nice to have it inflated before the additional weight is on the truck. I’m just saying get the compressor ??

The additional help for my 3/4 ton Chevrolet to level it out while pulling our 31 ft camper toy hauler. It did exactly what I needed it to do to level the rig ever so slightly. I would recommend them to anyone for sure.

Hi Jesse Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. We've been full timing now since June with plans to head north over the upcoming months to tour around the western US, Canada and Alaska. We just got a copy of "Milepost 2026" to help with planning the northland leg of the trip (I hope that mention does not violate any advertising rules.). We'll be travelling with a friend who recently purchased the 5000 kit from etrailer after discussing the technology with Will at etrailer. I do have a heavy-duty portable air compressor similar to the one you suggested, so I'm good to go on that. Thanks again for your help.
