Where is Brake Controller Install Connector on 2012 Itasca Cambria

Updated 04/13/2026 | Published 04/09/2026

Question:

I have a 2012 itasca cambria motorhome on a 2010 ford E450 chassis with factory 7way. I am having a heck of a time finding the brake controller harness under the dash, could you shed some light? Wire colors? Is this pic attached the correct connector?

Hey Marcus, yeah the gray connector in the picture you sent in is the correct connector for the install of a brake controller. Where did you end up finding it?

It was near the steering column to taped to another harness, but it was topside where I couldn’t see it from the bottom

@MarcusB oh nice! I'm glad you found it but I hadn't thought of it maybe being on the topside.

@JamesonC, that was not the correct harness, it was actually behind the switches where the coin holder would go but all the way back against the firewall at the top of the dash. I had to get a 24” pick up tool/grabber to fish it out. I also went on a wild goose chase because the vent control has the same 4 colored wires as a brake controller and it went all the way across the dash which took 20 minutes to find and follow just to see it ends in the vents controller

@MarcusB oh wow, the connector you send in a picture of looks identical to what the harness is supposed to look like.
