Question:

Need clarification about Lippert Grab Handle and SnapShot for RV screen door. Does XX dimension apply to screen door frame inside, or RV door frame inside? If RV door frame, does dimension include interior flanges over screen door? Confused, John.

Thanks for asking John, we apologize for the confusion.

The Lippert Screen Shot # LC730815 you're looking at is for 30" door frames. The door size is based on the rough opening that the door fits into.

To verify the proper size of the Screen Shot for your RV door, you're going to measure inside the entry door from edge frame to edge frame and round up to the nearest even number, e.g., 22”, 24”, 26”, 28” or 30”. This number should correspond to the Screen Shot purchased.

The grab handles like Stromberg Carlson's Lend-a-Hand # AM-800 ask that we measure for enough space to fit mount and confirming this will this mount securely to your RV.

Do your steps fold up into the doorway, or are they the kind that stay under the RV?

Still not enough clarification. For the Screen Shot - measurement should be inside RV main door JAMB, not inside of the screen door STOP. Correct? Door stop (for screen door) is also integral with the door frame. Lippert dimensional description of the Screen Shot is not clear at all. For the Lippert grab handle, measurement is the screen door frame, outside to outside, but NOT including the flanges which impact the screen door stop? It appears that the grab handle needs to mount without overhanging the door stop? From adjustment range, I think I have this measurement good. Thanks, John.

@JohnS My apologies and you're correct, inside the RV main door jamb. For the Lippert Screen Shot, measure from inside edge to inside edge of the main entry door frame. You’re on the right track with the grab handle. You’ll want to measure the screen door frame from outside edge to outside edge, but not include any of the flanges or trim. The handle needs to mount within that usable frame area so it doesn’t interfere with the door stop when the screen door closes. As long as your measurement falls within the adjustment range and the handle won’t overhang into the stop, you should be good. Let me know if you have any additional questions!
