Can I Trim Down the Malone Roof Rack Crossbars Like I Could on My Old Square Bars?

Hello Gene,
Great question, and I totally understand wanting to trim them down like older square bars.
Unfortunately, the Malone AirFlow2 crossbars # MAL84AR aren’t designed to be cut. They have a more complex, double-wall aluminum construction with integrated channels and end caps, so trimming them would leave the ends unfinished and could affect both fit and durability.
The good news is Malone does offer a shorter 50" version, part # MAL74AR, which may give you a cleaner fit without any excess overhang.
To make sure you end up with something that looks right and works well, what do you typically carry on your roof rack? And are you hoping for a flush look, or do you prefer a little extra bar overhang for easier loading?

I’m not aware of whether or not you can cut them. You can slide the mounts yo fit though
