Which Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System for 2019 Heritage Glen 282RK
Updated 03/18/2026 | Published 03/17/2026 >
Question:
Hello, I recently bought a 2019 heritage Glen 282RK travel trailer. Gvwr is 9500 and dry hitch is 700 I believe. I called equalizer and they told me a 12k would be good, however on your website there’s a lot of suggestions for a 14k and above. Can you tell me why the difference and what would be my best option? I also read that if I go with a heavy hitch I could have an issue, would the 14k be to heavy? I don’t expect a bunch of weight behind the axle between the tailgate.

Hey Garret, I would definitely go with what Equal-I-zer recommended with the part # EQ37120ET which would be the correct rated system for your 2019 Heritage Glen 282RK. You are correct in that if you go with a system that is rated too high you will have a harsher ride quality but with this system you won't have that problem at all. Have you used a WD system before?

Would you not recommend a 14k then?

No I have not, I’ve just used regular hitches so this setup will be a first for me. But have plenty of friends that use them and can help me set one up. Just making sure I buy the correct one.
