Is There a Gooseneck Hitch that Attaches to 5th Wheel Rails?

Updated 03/08/2026 | Published 03/04/2026

Question:

I looked at a 2020 ford f250 today. It had the two frame rails for fifth wheel hitch the rails went perpendicular to the truck. I have gooseneck trailers. Is there an adapter to hook up a gooseneck ball or do I just take them out and put in a real gooseneck hitch. I have seen gooseneck to fifth wheel systems. Thanks

That sounds exciting Mike! The Above-Bed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for 5th Wheel Rails item # 16055 is all you'll need to tow a gooseneck trailer with hopefully your new truck's 5th wheel rails.

The Above-Bed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for 5th Wheel Rails item # 16055 is going to attach directly to your new F-250's 5th wheel rails with the included pins. It has 3" of offset built into the base to help with turning clearance. The 2-5/16" gooseneck ball has a 25,000 lbs towing capacity. It's not light at 43 lbs but to keep it from walking away you may want to install one of the item # TR63254 locks in place of one of the four included pins.

If you choose to take the 5th wheel rails out, I highly recommend the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch item # BWGNRK1116. B&W sets the standard in the towing business and this is by far the best gooseneck system on the market. Everything you'll need to get it installed is included.

Additionally, I saw you were looking at a few headache racks. The Westin HDX Headache Rack item # 57-8005 is the correct one for a 2020 Ford F-250.

Thanks for looking into this. I own a 2011 f-350 and live on a farm, Between wood, hay and metal the bed is shot and it is time for a newer truck.

@MikeC You're welcome! I hear you there. I grew up on a farm in northern Missouri and that life sure takes a beating on those trucks. Goodluck with your potential purchase. If you have any additional questions don't hesitate to reach out.
