Brake Controller Kit For a 2007 Toyota Tundra With a Factory Pigtail

Updated 03/10/2026 | Published 03/04/2026

Question:

Hi, I have a 2007 Toyota Tundra with a factory pigtail. Do I need to purchase an additional connector, to plug into the brake controller, or does the brake controller come with the necessary wiring that will plug into my factory tundra wiring? Thank you! Jeff

Hey, Jeff! Happy to help and confirm that for you.

Yes, the Curt TriFlex NEXT part # C67GV includes the custom harness that will plug directly into your 2007 Tundra’s factory pigtail and then into the controller. It's a plug-n-play application so you won’t need to purchase anything additional for the install.

What kind of trailer or camper are you going to be hauling?

I'm a landscaper, so will be pulling a 7x16 enclosed trailer daily. Since I pull the trailer daily, would you point me towards another controller, or is the Curt one on par with say, a tekonsha prodigy p3? Thanks!

@JeffB This Curt one is on par with the P3. The only other one I would recommend for being on par would be the Redarc part # RED82CR . With this one you only have a knob showing on the dash and the knob can be mounted anywhere. So it's ideal if knee space is limited. A big benefit this has over the Triflex is that will auto calibrate after you brake a few times when you take off with your trailer. After that, you can fine tune it with the knob. If you want to stay with a traditional dash mounted controller then I'd definitely stick with the Triflex.

@Chris Thanks for you're input, Chris! How long have you been using the Triflex?

I have a 2008 tundra the brake controller plugged directly into my factory plugs and works great. Be sure to read the instructions as it has several different settings. Once you get it set for your trailer, it is phenomenal.

@Chris Thanks for sharing your tip about setting. It's so important to dial in to exactly what you need for your trailer.

Hi Jeff. It works great and is easy to install. My 2014 Sequoia had a factory connector that matched up to the one ordered with the controller. One thing I would make sure of is that the connection made is made completely, in that you hear the click when the two parts come together. It can fool you where it feels sort of together when it’s not, or it can come together enough that it works but after a few bumps on the road, it will stop. Happened to me. I got back under there with a pliers made to help with those connections and got it together just right. The factory connector is a little hard to get to as it’s in a pretty tight space, so just be patient and you will be very happy with the controller.

@Matt Thanks for your comment, Matt. Would you say that it was easier to use the pliers to get more leverage for the connection to "click" together?

@GwendolynY yes! Given the tight space and my unskinny fingers, it was about the only way to get it together properly.

@Matthew I feel like trucks are getting larger but the spaces under the dash are getting smaller. Someone mentioned on another brake controller harness for a different truck that they felt like a contortionist because of the small space in their truck. I'm going to have to remember your pliers trick and share it with others to their install is a bit easier.

I have this in my 2004 Sequoia and it works perfectly. It is far better than the “old style”.

@Bob By old style I assume you mean the time-delayed ones?
