Dual Hitch Receiver That Can Be Used For Things Other Than Flat Towing

Updated 03/12/2026 | Published 03/03/2026

Question:

Looking for a double hitch, but everyone is designed for flat tow, and I currently have a car dolly so is it ok if I get a hitch with a six or eight inch for my application

Hi David!

A lot of these are for flat towing, but I have a better option that I think you will be interested in. Check out the following two parts:

Shank for Gen-Y Adjustable Ball Mount - 2" Hitch - 10" Drop/Rise - 16K # 325-GH-505
Shank for Gen-Y Adjustable Ball Mount - 2" Hitch - 7-1/2" Drop/Rise - 16K # 325-GH-504

These are beefy as all get out, American made, and can be used for any number of things. And that includes using more than one receiver at a time. These essentially have stacked 2" receivers and we have a lot of people use these for flat towing a vehicle behind an RV in the bottom receiver while also carrying a bike rack in the top-most receiver. They are a little more expensive than some of the more specific flat towing options, but I think it's worth it.

What are you wanting to use something like this for?

I purchased mine for Flat towing a Jeep behind a Class A. I used the 6" drop for the tow bar to keep it more level and the 2" rise for a additional bike rack while traveling and a flag pole holder while camping. I just switched to a Class C where the hitch is closer to the ground, so I use the 2" drop for the tow bar and the 6" rise for the other. They are very sturdy and very handy.

We tow with a dolly on a class C. We put a bike rack on the upper hitch and the dolly on the lower one. It worked very well last year. No issues.
