Video Transcript for The Low-Down on the NOCO Boost X Jump Starter

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a look at this NOCO Boost X 12 volt jump starter with the 1,750 amp peak rating and an LED work light. Now, this is a nice portable jump starter that'll revive dead 12 volt vehicle and equipment batteries. So this will work perfect for cars, trucks, RVs, boats, and even ATVs. Now the battery types this supports as well is wet cell, gel cell, maintenance free, enhanced flooded and AGM batteries. And the engine size compatibility is gas engines up to 7.5 liters in size and diesel engines up to five liters.

Now this does include everything shown here on the table. The jump starter with the boost battery clamps, a USB C cable, nice storage bag for carrying everything together and even a user's guide that will describe how this operates. Now, this jump starter uses a powerful 46 watt hour lithium ion battery to provide multiple jumps starts off a single charge. Does use these heavy duty battery clamps, which are attached. They are spark proof, which means that when this is turned on, if they do touch, it won't give off any spark like on some of your big jump starters, where they'll touch and spark.

This won't do that. And they also have reverse polarity protection. Now the span on the battery clamps is about 24 inches long. Now one other feature I do want to show you. What I think is pretty unique is this.

If you look at the clamp, a lot of your battery clamps you end up seeing or have very thick clamp and lots of times that makes it hard to clamp onto the post or anything. And it might won't stay on that well. These have a nice tension to them. And if you notice, they're a very thin clamp, which makes it easy to get in any tight areas. So that's a pretty nice feature.

Now this also offers the second, or a 60 second timeout feature, and that helps save power for your charger here. And basically what that does is when you go to charge, you connect these clamps to the battery and then you'll press the power button right here. And when you press that power button, if you notice all the LEDs will flash once. And then if it's connected to a battery, this light right here will be a white light. It'll come on, it's the boost light. And that shows you're ready to go. But what's nice is when you start this, it'll give you a 60 second countdown for you to start the car that you're trying to jump. If it doesn't start, or if you're having a problem, well, after 60 seconds what'll happen is the power LED right over here next to this button will go to, it's white now, but it'll go to yellow. And that just means the unit powered off. All you have to do is just push that off, turn it back on to initiate a new jumpstart sequence. It just protects you from leaving it on and drawing power off of this charger. So that's a nice feature to have. Also another neat one is the manual override button, which is right down here. This manual override button will allow you to jump a battery with a charge if it's below three volts. Now below three volts, this jump starter will not detect the battery being connected. So what you'll have to do is push that override button. And when you do that, it'll force the jumpstart function to operate. The other nice thing on this, it has a nice built-in LED work light if you look on the end here. And it will include different options for this work light. And here's your light button right here. So I'm going to show you them. If you push it first, it'll give you 100% brightness. Push it again, it's 50%. Again, it's 10%. If you keep going, it'll give you an SOS signal. Do it again, it'll give you the blink. And one more time, it'll give you the strobe, which goes back and forth. And then the last time is off. Now, at full brightness, 100%, it'll give you a 200 lumens output. Now I do want to do it again for you, but do it with the lights off. So push it once. There's your 100%, 50%, 10%, do the SOS. And you can see how bright it is. Do it again, it'll do the constant blink. Do it again, you see it does this strobe back and forth. And then the last time, it'll turn it off. So it's a very bright light. Also on the other end, if you notice there is two USB ports and they are covered. If you notice they have these rubber covers on them. The reason they do that, because with these covers over those ports, it'll give this jump starter an IP65 rating. So when you're not using those ports, if you keep them covered, it'll keep them protected. But if we first opened this one, you can see that's going to be your standard USB output, which is 2.1 amps. And then if we open the second one, that's going to give you a USB C input and output, which is 60 Watts. This will give you a nice, super fast USB C port. That'll recharge this charger in under an hour. And it goes from dead to jumpstart ready in about five minutes. And again, like we've mentioned, now, it does come with the, to charge this it gives you the USB C to USB cable for charging. But again, anytime you're not using it, just go ahead and push your covers back in there all the way. And that'll give a nice protection of those ports. Now, also one other thing on the very top, if you notice there's a battery level indicator, and this will monitor the current level of charge of this charger, of your battery in this charger. And again, if that's, right now, you can see there's two red lights on. So it's 50% battery in there right now. If it would all, all four lights be lit up, it'd be green on the big square at the end. That'll mean it's 100% charge. If it drops down to three lights showing, it'll be 75%. Right now it's 50%. If it goes down to one, it'd be 25%. This is a nice compact, lightweight design. It'll store in a cargo area, a trunk or toolbox. Comes the nice storage bag for storing it. And then again, when you're not using it, you can just clamp your clamps to the jump starter itself, keep them out of the way. And you have it all in the one nice unit. And this only weighs about two and a half pounds. Application, again, is for 12 volt lead acid battery systems. Peak current rating is 1,750 amps. Last thing I want to give you, just some dimensions on this. So, the width. If we put a ruler on, this, this is going to be right about seven and three quarter inches long, or the length of it. The width of it, including the cables is about five and a half inches wide. And your total depth on this is going to be right about two and a half inches deep.
