Looking for Replacement Hub/Drums and Brake Assemblies for 6k Trailer Axle

Updated 02/17/2026 | Published 02/13/2026

Question:

I have 6000lbs Lippert axle, 6 lug nuts, in my RV and I need a full Brake assembly auto adjust with drum. What do you recommend.

Hey Robert, welcome back! For a 6k rated hub/drum with the 6 lug bolt pattern you need that is also pre-greased and ready to install you would want the part # AKHD-655-6-EZ-K. Then for a brake assembly set the part # AKEBRK-7-SA would be what you'd want as well as these are self adjusting. Are you replacing all of the hubs and assemblies on your RV?

For standard duty I agree the Dexter brakes are suitable but for extreme duty I am currently changing again to disc brakes. GL

@Jeff Nice! Do you have the disc brake kit picked out already?
