Upgrading Spring Bars on Fastway e2 Trunnion With 600 lb Bars
Updated 02/18/2026 | Published 02/12/2026 >
Question:
I have the Fastway e2 Trunnion WD Hitch on my 2016 F-150 tow vehicle. The bars are rated for 600 and I need to upgrade to 800 bars for a bigger travel trailer. I want to be certain that my current head will work and be safe to do this replacement. Per my research it looks like I need part FA92-01-0899 Can you confirm that replacement is correct and will work?

Hey Robert! Your current head will work with the higher rated bars since it is the same head for the 6,000 lb and 8,000 lb systems. Adding the # FA92-01-0899 will give you the higher rating so you can handle a trailer with more tongue weight.
Did you get a new, heavier trailer or was the original system underrated?

I did the same thing, old 600 lb bars had started to bow from use and possible overloading. Tongue weight was right at 600 lb limit, measured with cheap scale so probably only approximate. Had to add one or two washers to head with old bars to get proper distribution. When originally bought hitch 10+ years ago questioned whether should get 600 or 800. Concern is too high a rating will ride harsher. Swapped out the old 600 with new 800 without issue. I removed the extra washers that had added. Have towed 10-20k miles with new bars and have better weight distribution. Did not notice any increase in harshness.
