Will this base plate kit reduce ground clearance?

Hi Stephen; yes, installation of the Curt Custom Base Plate Kit # C32KR will reduce ground clearance at the front of your Jeep. This hangs down below the bumper as seen in the photo below. The distance from the ground to the center of the brackets is 17-3/4" so that will give you a good idea on where this sits.

Do you have the rest of your parts picked out to flat tow your Jeep?

Hi, thanks for the information. I was also looking at the Demco classic bumper mounted base plates. I'm a little concerned about towing from the factory bumper.

@StephenG sure, I can understand that. As long as you have the standard factory bumper you can use the # DM9518112 and expect it to stay secure. They wouldn't still make it if it wasn't safe. At the same time, I would personally pick a dedicated base plate for peace of mind.

@StephenG. The photo seems a little off as my tow base plate was tight to the bumper. I discourage you from using bumper pull. Have seen 2 jeeps with damage to the bumper
