This adapter bar allows you to carry a bike with a sloping top tube or step-through frame on your bike rack. It fits between the seat post and handlebar stem post of your bike to ensure level transport on your hanging-style bike rack. It also creates a top tube so you can carry your bike on frame-mount platform-style rack. The spring-loaded bar telescopes to fit multiple frame sizes, and it can be used with no-rise bike stems.
To install the adapter bar simply open the hooks with the integrated release buttons, wrap one hook around your handlebar stem post and the other around your seat post, and close the hooks. The hooks open outward - parallel with the bar - to help you avoid interference from the seat and handlebars during installation. The bar has red "Up" indicators on each end to help prevent incorrect installation. The hooks have a vinyl coating that won't scratch or scuff your bikes' paint.

I placed the order and then it was quiet. I called and was told Aug but someone checked and found me a piece for the rack and I am all set. A call or e-mail would have been helpful.
This is a better bar than the cheap one I bought prior to this purchase, but this bar has poor figment and the jury is out on how long it will last.

Speed and service excellent. Box came a bit banged up but no damage to item so very happy with etrailer.

This is a great all around product that allows almost any bike to adapt to the bike rack.

Works great with the Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack and the step through Letric bike.
Seems to be too long for my Heybike cityscape but we seem to have it secured to the rack.

This bar is quick and easy to use. It has flexibility to fit any bike and is plenty strong. It allows us to attach our step through bikes to our rack. Very happy with the purchase.
These fit perfectly on our Lectric eBikes and helped ensure they are secure to our swagman eBike approved bike rack.
I used it once to transport my wife’s bike in for service and it chipped the paint on the bars of the bike. Need some sort of rubber protectors at each end to protect the bike.
would like it lockable, so I didn't need add'l lock to my bike rack other than the holddown that loops over the bar to hold the bike in...
I've needed this bar adapter for my trek ebike "step-through" for my particular bike rack which hooks onto the bikes. It has worked just fine in providing a way for the bike to be secured onto the rack.
Works as advertised. We have two different types of Fat Tire Ebikes and both are step thru style. Perfect for putting on and clamping them down on the bike rack for travel. Great accessory.
I would advise anyone if they are considering ordering anything from etrailer to make sure it's what you want because if you have to return it you have to pay for shipping and what is left you will be waiting for a long time before you get it back! be careful!
The adapter bar is probably fine if you have to have it-the quality of the part seems fine. Don’t buy it from etrailer though if you think you might need to return it. Unlike [online stores], they don’t accept returns on bike racks if you have assembled the rack, so they may well have the same policy for this adapter. I bought the HR1500 bike rack with these adapter bars, but the right solution would have been the HR1700. They won’t allow exchanges or returns.
The initial inside/ outside placement is a little tricky! Also the “tracks” don’t seem to be 100% secure. Despite it’s weight, is easy to mount and load bikes!

Excellent. Best bike rack I ever had
