What Is The Rating For Each Ramp For The Aluminum etrailer Ramps FHG23ZR?

Updated 01/28/2026 | Published 01/23/2026

Question:

Are each ramp rated for 6000lbs or 3000lbs. I’ve found ramps that say they are rated for 6000lbs but each ramp only rated for 3000lbs. To me if a vehicle weighs 5000lbs each ramp would have to be rated to hold 5-6000lbs each? My garage that I need ramps for is 9” from the ground up and our truck weighs 5700lbs that I have to drive in and out all the time. Thanks!

Hi Leslie!

The ramps for the etrailer Easy Carry Trailer Ramps - Aluminum - 6' x 14-1/2" - 6,000 lbs # FHG23ZR are indeed rated for 3,000 pounds each. The reason they are rated like that is because when loading a vehicle, the entire weight of said vehicle will never completely be on the ramps. Each wheel will carry some of the weight and since it is spread out, the ramps would work for your truck.

That said, if you wanted something more heavy duty, we do have options. The Gen-Y Hitch Aluminum Loading Ramp Set - 6' Long x 15" Wide # GY55NR, as an example, is rated to a combined weight of 10,000 pounds and 5,000 pounds per ramp. These are beefier and American made, but they are more expensive. Each ramp is also 10 pounds heavier (31 pounds), so they are a bit less portable. They might be more what you are looking for though.

We do also have the Gen-Y # GY35NR which is rated to 14,000 pounds (or 7,000 pounds per ramp), but they are 8' long, a lot more expensive, and quite a bit heavier (54 pounds per ramp).

Out of curiosity, why the large drop from your garage?

@LeslieS That makes sense. I knew a guy that built a workshop out of two metal shipping containers that you needed to step up to due to how he mounted them on a concrete slab. Wasn't bad in the winter since this was in Southern California, but the summers were pretty bad until he insulated it and added an air conditioner. Any way, let me know if there is anything else I can help with! : )
