Question:
I have a 2019 Riverside Retro 265RB that we purchased new in 2019. We have a broken leaf spring, I wanted to buy a pair to replace both sides of that axle. Its a tandem Dexter D35, but Im not able to find part numbers on the springs. By taking measurements and looking at the Dexter website its 33inch axle spacing with 29.5inch between the spring hanger frame mounting locations, so I believe its a 26inch nomincal spring. Looking at Dexter Trailer Leaf Springs - DX23CR, this spring is 25-1/4inch eye to eye with a 3inch . Im not able to fully unload the spring without removing one of the good springs from the front axle to measure it, but when mostly unloaded its about 2-1/4 - 2-1/2inch from the eye of the spring to the top of the mounting point dimension D. All the other dimensions and specs are identical to my current springs, is it possible that Riverside used a non-standard spring with a different dimension D or is it likely that this standard replacement is the correct height. Thanks, Jeff

Hi Jeff; there are a lot of different leaf spring lengths out there, and axle spacing/hanger measurements can only help you guess what the original length was. The "D" measurement isn't really the best way to find a replacement either.
If you're measuring spring eye to spring eye (C) and getting 25-1/4" then the original leaf springs were likely shorter since they flatten out over time. If you're measuring "C" and it is close to 26" then 25-1/4" wouldn't be out of the question.
Can you measure the flat length? That is going to be the most accurate way to do this since it remains the same no matter what. See the attached photo. If that measurement is 13" then the # DX23CR is the correct replacement. If it is something else let me know in the comments below.

I took the broken spring off and cleaned it a little and the Dexter part number is 072 042 00, which I believe cross references to the DX23CR, can you confirm? Can I replace both springs on that axle with the e57SR 4,000 lb springs or would I have to replace all four springs? I saw this recommended in another reply here at eTrailer to someone looking for DX23CR or alternative springs. The e54Sr was also mentioned in that reply.

The springs I needed for my Bullet Crossfire were a perfect fit. I ordered the ‘whole kit’ and installed myself. Very pleased with results and will always check with Etrailer for parts.
