Question:
I have a 2015 Silverado 1500, and a travel trailer with a GVWR of about 8k. The last time I took a tongue weight I was around 1000. I run an equalizer 10k WDH and roadmaster active suspension. I still get a fair amount of squat and bounciness and Im wondering if should change to sumo springs and if so what size. Towing is about 5 of my driving so i dont want to ruin the ride.

Hello Geoff,
Happy to help you get dialed in and eliminate the squat you are experiencing, even while using the Equal-i-zer weight distribution hitch.
The SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs for the rear axle # SS95MR are a great choice because they add extra rear suspension support only when the truck is under load. With a tongue weight around 1,000 lbs, these 1,500 lb rated SumoSprings help reduce rear squat and suspension bounce while towing. They are a simple, maintenance-free option for improving stability on a truck that tows part time.
If you really want to get everything dialed in just right, air bags are a great option. For an 8 foot bed you would use # AL57211, and for a 6 3/4 foot bed you would use # AL88204. Air bags let you fine-tune the rear suspension by adjusting the air pressure to match the load, making it easy to level the truck and reduce squat when towing. When you are not hitched up, you can lower the pressure and keep a comfortable ride.
If you wanted to pair them with a great onboard air compressor, check out the Air Lift WirelessAIR Compressor System for Air Helper Springs # AL74000EZ. With the remote and Bluetooth control, you do not even need to leave the cab of your truck to make adjustments.
What was your favorite adventure for 2025, and what trip are you looking forward to most in 2026?

Hey Geoff, how did things turn out with the SumoSprings on your Silverado when towing your travel trailer? Did they help smooth out the bounce and reduce the squat like you were hoping? Your update could make it easier for others dialing in their suspension for part-time towing.
