Heavy trailers and bed loads can make the rear end sag and throw off handling. These SumoSprings helper springs add up to 2,000 lbs of support at 50-percent compression to keep your ride level when towing or hauling. They help your factory suspension carry the weight evenly so steering, traction, and braking stay consistent. With the truck sitting level, your headlights aim correctly and your ride feels more stable under load.
Whether you’re hauling a few tools or a full load, the springs adjust automatically to match the weight. Lighter cargo compresses them easily for a softer ride, while heavier loads bring up to 80 percent compression for firm support. That progressive action helps absorb bumps and shocks without making the unloaded ride harsh, keeping your suspension responsive on rough roads or long trips.

The two-piece setup lets the suspension move freely when unloaded or off-road. Each spring section mounts to the frame and axle separately, meeting only when weight pushes down on the rear end. That separation allows unlimited suspension travel for a smoother feel when empty and solid support when loaded. It’s a simple design that keeps your truck comfortable every day and steady when it’s working hard.

Each spring works on its own side to handle uneven loads and sharp turns. That independent movement helps cut down body roll and sway so you stay planted through curves, crosswinds, or unlevel driveways. You’ll notice better control and less rocking when towing or carrying cargo that’s off-center in the bed.
Made from durable microcellular urethane, these springs resist oils, salts, UV rays, and extreme temperatures from -25 F to 200 F. They compress vertically with minimal side expansion so they fit tight spaces without rubbing nearby parts. There are no airlines or compressors to maintain—just a simple bolt-on install with jounce-style springs and hardware included for dependable support every time you load up.

Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com, and today, we're gonna take a look at the SumoSprings Custom Helper Springs for your rear axle. Now, this is a custom fit product that is going to fit the 2008 to 2013 GMC Sierra 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado 1500, and then the 2014 to 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado 1500 two-wheel and four-wheel drive, and then the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited and the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Limited two-wheel and four-wheel drive, and then finally, the 2007 GMC Sierra New Body 1500 and the Chevrolet Silverado New Body 1500. To confirm if these are going to work for your vehicle, please take advantage of our vehicle fit guide on our website at etrailer.com and input the year, make, and model of your vehicle, and our fit guide will let you know if these will fit your vehicle. Now, SumoSprings Helper Springs are great for pickup trucks. Towing or hauling a heavy load can cause sag as your factory suspension compresses under the weight of the load, and that means that the rear axle is trying to support not only the extra load, but also your truck's weight, and because there is less weight on your front axle, your front tires make less contact with the road, which causes problems with traction, steering, and braking. SumoSprings upgrade your factory suspension to level your vehicle, improving driving performance and keeping your ride comfortable.
The innovative 2-piece design of these springs allow for unlimited suspension travel, this means that there will be more movement in your suspension when you are unloaded or off-roading, which is gonna make your ride smoother and more comfortable. These springs feature progressive load control, and what that means is they are going to compress according to the weight of your cargo. For lighter loads, the spring compress easily at first for soft engagement and less bumpy ride, and for heavier loads, the springs compress by as much as 80% for support. Now, these springs work independently from each other to compensate off-center loads and reduce body roll during sharp turns. These are made in the USA of durable microcellular urethane, they are going to work in temperatures from -25 degrees Fahrenheit to 200 degrees Fahrenheit, and they will resist damage caused by oils, road salts, and UV rays.
They have minimal lateral expansion, the springs expand and compress vertically instead of to the side, so they aren't easily damaged when operating in tight spaces. Another nice thing about these springs is they are maintenance-free, no tubing to run or air pressure to monitor like with air springs. It's gonna be an easy bolt-on installation, and it includes everything that you see on my table in front of me. You're gonna get the two jounce-style springs, the custom fit brackets, and all of the necessary hardware that you're going to need to successfully install these, and then you're also going to get instructions to walk you along and guide you step-by-step during the installation process. Well, that's gonna conclude our look today, I do hope that it was helpful for you.
Again, my name is Andy, thank you for joining me..

Installation was pretty straightforward. The addition of this product did make my truck ride a little stiffer, but not rigid by any streatch. Hooked up the trailer today. Two things that I noticed right away; 1. The truck no longer squats with the trailer attached. 2. The annoying tail sway at highway speed has been greatly reduced.
Since putting these on, it has made an incredible difference in the ride and handling, you do not realize how crappy the stock OEM parts are compared to these.
My 2024 Toyota Sequoia handles fantastic and without the SAG and lean
2023 Tundra SR5 TRD Sport. Install was pretty easy, do take the tires off, makes it a lot easier. Just note that the bolts towards the back of the truck will need to be put in and started prior to the other 2 bolts due to the spring partially covering the hole. See the pics and you can see this. But I did finally tow my 9k camper with these installed and it took out the sag of the truck and the floating side to side was next to zero. And the stuff inside the camper wasn't tossed around near as much as it was without these springs installed.
I like it needs to be longer
Towing a trailer with these is a dream!
These springs perform as advertised. They were easy to install on my 21 Bronco and I have not been disappointed. I've pulled a trailer from Texas to Utah multiple times with my Bronco and I have not experienced any squatting. I also haven't noticed any decline in comfort of my ride. I highly recommend if your looking for helper springs for trailering.
Super fast shipping. Sumo springs worked great on a trip pulling the boat to Canada.
They really improve the cornering, and trailer sag.
If your at all a DIY person you'll have no problem installing these helper springs.
The only reason I don't give them a five star review is that their just installed andvI want to see how they hold up.
Best customer service out there. You delivered when no one else could. Thank you!
Instructions were great, I didn't have to remove the rear wheels, I just used some 3" pieces of plywood with floor jack. The factory bolts (12mm) seemed to be better only because they had a washer as these hex socket bolts had a very small seat but I used them anyway. I wasn't sure the torque but tightened them to approximately the same torque as the bolts I removed. What worked for me was removing the lower two bolts, then slowly remove the side bolt and hold the original stops. Installing new one I needed 5mm for cushion, then 6mm for body bolts. There was sufficient locktite for two drops on all 8 bolts (good). I did this after work in the dark with a small flashlight. What worked for me is getting all the bolts into the body then tighten the side bolt almost all the way (so it could go up some more if needed, then tighten the bottom two bolts, then before finally tightening, loosen the side bolt a little (in case it needed to move), then tighten the bottom two bolts, then finally tighten the side bolt. I used what feels like about 30 ft-lbs. but no mention of torque. The instructions also told you which was driver vs passenger side, which is great to know before going under truck.
I put these on our Bronco Outer Banks to tow our teardrop off road camper. It made a huge difference in the ride and handling. Highly recommended.
I should have ordered heavier option all and all well satisfied install was ez and handling improved on my 2025 Tundra
Fast shipping! No issues.
First, the downfalls:
--Less than seven days after I ordered them, etrailer starts offering an instant rebate on them....$[XX]. I spoke to trainer before purchasing, would have been nice to know.
---Driver side bracket had some issues. Had to drill out paint on one of the holes to let the factory screw go through without stripping threads. (Quality control). Also, the driver side bracket did NOT fit easily. Took me 50 minutes of trail and error to get it to fit right. Another Quality Control issue. The passenger side took 10 minutes. Looking back, should have stopped, returned them, and reordered. Perhaps I then would have qualified for the instant rebate!
These Sumo's will be put to the test this weekend as I am hooking up the trailer and taking a small trip. If they do not, I am still awaiting a response from trainer of the30-Day satisfaction guarantee they advertise on the site. I was told they have to contact the manufacturer... While they are at it, can they clarify if the blue SumoSprings are rated at 1400 (etrailer site) or 1000 (SuperSprings International site)?
E-Trailer has been phenomenal. Communication, shipping, and price was great. Easy install. Haven’t put a heavy load on them yet, but am sure they will work as advertised. Have not noticed any difference thus far in ride quality in my ‘24 1794 Tundra.
Fairly easy to install. Says it takes about 30 minutes to install. It actually took about an hour. Fortunately, I took it to a buddy of mine shop and we used his lift. Tip remove both rear tires for easier access. Do yourself a favor and don’t attach the spacer and the shock to the bracket before install. The small side of the bracket start threat it into the frame. Give yourself enough room to turn the bracket out then install the spacer and the shock. Then continue with the other two bolts. The first bolt you put in you’ll have to hand tighten with a wrench. But if you give yourself a little pivot room, you’ll be able to install the spacer and the shock to the bracket. I bought a blue shocks, which are the shortest ones. They did help level out the truck and stopped some of forward to rear sway. Personally, I wish I would’ve bought the black shocks, which are a little bit longer. They probably would’ve performed a little bit better. But overall happy with the performance.
These are fantastic if you tow an RV get them
I just received my sumosprings for my 2025 tundra so I can’t tell how they will perform but I bought them because I have had them on my previous model tundra for about five years and they really make towing my utility trailer much better, I didn’t feel any stiffer ride on an empty truck but when loaded or hooked up to a trailer the sumo springs didn’t allow to squad as much and hard bottoming down just never happened.
Fixed the sag. No more bottoming out from bumps in the road. Cheaper and less complicated than air. A+ product!
The etrailer site helped me dial-in the exact Sumo Springs for our 24 Tundra, and deliver them exactly at the stated day, enabling us to keep our installation appointment with a local mechanic. We’re looking forward to our next trip pulling an Alliance Delta 252 RL. We’ve been using a BluOx load leveling hitch with 1,000 lb bars, that relieve most of the sag already, but looking to be more level with reduced vibration. I’ll update this post after getting some miles in.
Appreciate those videos on the etrailer site - very teachable.
Incredibly fast turn around, from order to delivery, super impressed! Overall, a pretty easy install on my 2023 Tundra, even without removing the rear tires. That said, it would have been much easier to access the area to install with the tires off, there’s no doubt about that, but it wasn’t impossible. Jacked up the rear end with a 3ton floor jack (just under 20in of travel on it), set my jack stands, and that gave me plenty of room to work with. A word of advice: MAKE SURE YOU PUT THE BOLT INTO THE SMALLER SIDE OR THE BRACKET MOUNT FIRST. If you save that one for last, the factory bolt and washer will catch on the top lip of the Sumo Spring, and you will not be able to get the angle needed to get the bolt in, resulting in you needing to remove the entire thing to fix your mistake. Ask me how I know this. After the install, I drove around to hit some bumps and dips, see how it felt unloaded, and honestly, I think it rode smoother than with the factory bump stops. Loading up and towing our 26ft bunk house 600mi over the next week, that’ll be the true test. So far so good though!
Just added a set of blue sumo springs to my 2024 Toyota Tacoma off-road. Picked up my new r-pod 22 foot travel trailer 3700 pounds yesterday. Headed home with a five hour trip no squat at all with the trailer on the back.
Good product on my 23 Bronco 2DR would not fit in the orientation suggested with the U bolt closest to the wheel on the divers side although this orientation did work on the passenger side. Would suggest most important thing is to line up with where product is going to hit frame rail. I carry a large dirt bike on a motorcycle tongue rack. With billstiens dialed up two inches (rear) it took the two inch spacer plus one of the 1/2 inch spacers included in the kit. The description should be updated because the kit does include 4-1/2 inch spacers but if you have bigger wheels or have upgraded the stock suspension then you will need to buy the extra spacers which come in 2/4/6 inch versions. The product can be used in two ways. 1) So the read end does not sag from tongue weight. If this is your goal you need the blue part spaced to just barely touch the frame. The other usage is as bump stops which can and you may wish to leave well away from the frame on a 4WD to allow wheel articulation. My goal was to eliminate rear sag when I load the motorcycle on the rack and it achieved that purpose (450 pounds).
I am only reviewing installation so far, as I haven't put them to the test towing my boat yet. However, what could be a very easy installation...maybe 15-20 mins per side, becomes much more difficult because the bracket does not allow for the use of a ratchet for one of the screws. The bump stop is just wide enough so it blocks the hex head. Only way to handle that one screw is with a traditional or adjustable wrench, and this makes the install much more difficult and time consuming. Just another 1/4 inch adjustment and you could tighten that screw with the ratchet.
Items bolted right up … took maybe 15 minutes to install… will update when I hook up the boat trailer and pull it for a few miles.. from the looks of these they will do the job quite well…
