How Hot Does Kat's Heaters Oil and Coolant Immersion Heater Get

Updated 01/27/2026 | Published 01/05/2026

Question:

Hello, what temperature does this heater get up to, and how long is the cord? I would be using this to heat oil in a dry sump oil tank on a race car. Thanks

Hey Tim, The Kat's # KH30904 is a 300-watt engine block heater, and while it doesn't have a fixed "max temperature" rating in the way a thermometer does, it's designed to heat engine coolant or oil, often reaching temperatures within the engine's operating range, typically around 135-175°F.

The cable is 6 foot long.

Hey Tim, how did the Kat's heater work out for warming the oil in your race car’s dry sump tank? Your results could really help others trying to manage oil temps in a similar setup.

@JamesonC Hi, haven’t used it yet, still in the process of reassembling the car. Tim

@TimF makes sense! It's also not fun when it's cold out to work on cars haha. I have a block heater I need to install on my skid steer and I'm not looking forward to it.
