Brake Controller for 2020 Newmar Ventana

Question:

Hi Experts, What’s your opinion for using this on my 2020 Newmar Ventana with a Spartan Chassis? I’m looking at purchasing a n Aluma tandem axle car hauler with 7000 GVW and electric brakes. Really like the idea of no below dash mounted controller to hit my knee on. Thanks for comments Jim

Hi Jim! The Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller is my favorite brake controller so I think that is a great choice. It is simple, reliable, and as you noted, won't be in the way and will save your knee.

However, the version you looked at comes with a wiring harness for the Toyota Tundra. Since there is no custom wiring harness for your 2020 Newmar Ventana you need the # RED52VR. This comes with the universal wiring harness for installation.

Any big trips coming up with your motorhome?

Thanks Robin. Ordered as you suggested. Although the product listing shows the connector with raw wires, I assume for the cost it has the same connector as my motor home. That one is a 6 wire plug but with only the 4 (in the same colors) as the controller.

@JimD the universal wiring harness will be a splice in so if you have some kind of brake controller port you won't be using the actual connector. I'm not aware of a custom wiring harness that fits a Spartan chassis connector if you have one. Pretty much all brake controllers have the same 4-wire connection where red is the stoplight switch, white is ground, blue is the brake output wire, and black is 12V power.
