Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2022 GMC Canyon AT4 With Roadmaster Falcon 5250

Updated 01/09/2026 | Published 01/01/2026

Question:

I have a 4-wheel drive 2022 GMC Canyon AT4. I will be using an older Roadmaster Falcon 5250 towbar to flat wheel tow the truck behind my RV. I found two part numbers that the site indicates will fit my vehicle and indicate Roadmaster. RM27MR and RM37VR. Which would be best for my application? I am also looking at the Roadmaster RM-15267 wiring kit. Is that kit a good match for my rig? I also have an older Brake Buddy flat tow brake kit that I hope to use as it does not appear to be model specific. Thank you for any advice you can give me.

Hey Gerald! I would be happy to help you out with this. The correct base plate kit for the AT4 is the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM27MR. This will be compatible with your Falcon 5250. If you don't already have safety cables you will also want the # RM-643.

The Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-15267 is the best wiring option for your truck. You will also need the Roadmaster Battery Disconnect # RM-766 or if you have a diesel the # RM93MR.

If the Brake Buddy is the Classic 2 or 3 or Select 2 or 3 you can use the Second Vehicle Kit for Brake Buddy Flat Tow Brake Systems # BB59SR to carry it over. The model should be visible on the top control panel. The only other thing you may need is a high-low adapter like # e52ZV if you don't already have one to keep your setup level.

Any big trips planned once you get your 2022 Canyon set up for towing?
