Looking For Snow Chains For My 2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500

Updated 12/31/2025 | Published 12/26/2025

Question:

i am looking for an excellent snow chain for a mercedes sprinter van 2023 awd 3500XD with duallys in the rear. I am looking for a single chain on the outside tires of the rear axle. Is this a great option, or do you have a recommendation. Konig Konig Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - Square Link - Self Tensioning - 1 Pair Part Number: TH01594250

Hey Scott,

Those Konig Chains you mentioned are not confirmed to work with your Sprinter. What I recommend are the Konig # TH01571245. These are very similar to that style and my favorite style of chains. These are just confirmed to fit with the clearance needed on your vehicle. Installation of these chains is fairly easy, takes me around 10 minutes to install. Personally these are my favorite style and I have had plenty of experience with them.

What area are you in that is requiring the chains?

I am located in California, and occasionally drive through Utah and Colorado. Sorry, I should have provided additional details. My sprinter 2023 awd 3500xd has been uplifted including a Agile Rip Kit system. The wheels and tires are not stock. Tires: Toyo AT3 Dually, size 235/85/16

@ScottL Thank you for that additional information. Since those tires are not stock I went ahead and found them directly through tire size. I would recommend the Titan # TC2521 chains for that specific size tire. The installation is almost identical to the Konig ones I mentioned and are great quality.

I was looking at the Konig because of the Self Tensioning. Is the Titan Self Tensioning. I also need to measure the clearance between the Duallys to confirm it does not rough up the inside tire.

@Scottl The Titans # TC2521 do have a built in tensioning system like the Konigs.

Hi Nick, I can't speak for the dual rear wheel set-up or the difference between the Konig and the Titan chains. I have the Konig, and use them for a small 1985 Toyota pickup, to enable me to plow a long fairly steep driveway. I found these chains quite easy to install, as you can pass the cable behind the tire, and hook it up, and then connect the remaining part of the chain in the front easily. I have 4, and the little truck seems to be able to go anywhere with them on. I'm pretty pleased with the chains. Robin
