Need Replacement Shroud For Dometic Penguin AC 651516

Updated 12/20/2025 | Published 12/19/2025

Question:

A storm last night ripped off the cover from my front ac. It is a penguin dometic 651516. Installed in 2010. The RV is a Newmar DutchStar 2006. Do you sell this part?

Hi James, thanks for reaching out, and I’m sorry to hear about the damage to your AC shroud. Storms like that can definitely do a number on rooftop equipment. We are here in Missouri and we had big thunderstorms roll thru yesterday - wonder if that was the same storm you got?

Anyway, we do offer a replacement shroud for the Dometic Penguin air conditioner. Based on the Penguin model 651516 you mentioned, the correct replacement should be part # DMC94MR. This shroud measures approximately 40-1/4 inches long, 28-1/2 inches wide, and 7 inches tall. Since Dometic used a few similar Penguin housings over the years, I recommend comparing these dimensions to your AC unit on the roof to be sure it’s a match before ordering.

If the measurements line up, this shroud will be a direct replacement and should install without modification.

The measurements are correct. What about the vent holes down the driver's side of the cover?

@James The # DMC94MR cover does not have vent holes on either side. Sounds like your AC may use a slightly different model cover. If so, your best bet would be to reach out directly to Dometic to see if they can provide the exact shroud you need.

@JesseM I have had no luck with Dometic site... that's why I came to etrailer. So vent holes won't be a problem (I own a drill ??) there appears to be two links. A polar white one from etrailer and a beigeone from Atwood. Do both work? Is one better? The Atwood delivery is 5 days. While the etrailer one is 15 days. I'm on the road and sooner is better (if it fits and is a good product) Your thoughts?

@James I understand completely, and I’m glad you reached out. Yes, we do have the same shroud available in beige as well, part # AT3308046006. It’s the same shroud design as the white version, just a different color. The beige option is currently in stock and would ship much faster, while the white shroud is running closer to a two-week lead time. As for the vent holes, that won’t be an issue. If the shroud fits your AC properly, it can still be used. If you do end up needing to drill a couple of small holes for alignment, that’s fine, just take your time and drill carefully. Given that you’re on the road and timing matters, the beige shroud is a solid option if you want to get back up and running sooner.
