Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a real quick look at this replacement polar white AC shroud for your Dometic Penguin RV Air Conditioners. Now, this replacement shroud is going to fit most of your Dometic Penguin RV Air Conditioners. The polar white color is gonna blend in with most of your RV rooftops. And this UV-resistant plastic is, I think, gonna do a pretty decent job of resisting cracking and fading over time, so it should hold up pretty well for you. So this cover is going to protect your internal components from water, dirt, debris.
It's gonna restore that clean OEM look. I didn't have room for it on my table, but I just wanted to show you that this does include the foam tape strips as well. So that's a nice addition, I don't typically see this with other replacement covers, so you will get that. But because this is from Dometic, you can have the confidence that this is going to fit right in place of that original one. Maybe that original one got damaged somehow, maybe due to low clearance or something like that, that's why you need to replace it.
So you're not gonna have to worry about compatibility issues, fitment issues, or anything like that. It does not come with any hardware, I did wanna mention that, so you will reuse your hardware. I needed a replacement shroud for my Duotherm rooftop air-conditioner for my 22-year-old motorhome.
It measured about 30W” x 40L” x 7H”. Melissa at etrailer had one that was close but measured 26 ¼”W x 40”L x 7 ½”H. I had her ship it to me on the condition that I could return it if it did not fit. I received it in less than a week in Arizona. I discovered that shroud measurements are approximate because of their curved sides. It fit just fine. I had to drill two new holes in it for screws and a bunch of holes for air-vents. I discarded the old screws and used new round head screws. I also used fender washers, flat washers and 1” rubber squares made of 3/32nd inch thick truck tire tubes. I put one square and a fender washer against the outside of each shroud screw hole and one to three squares and a flat washer between the inside of each shroud hole and the screw holes that were in the AC’s steel frame. The new foam-rubber weather-strip material that was included with the shroud was a bit thicker than the old deteriorated stuff which kept the shroud from setting all the way down. I put some bricks on top for a few days and it squashed down just right. It turned out better than the original factory installation.
