How Does The Tow Ready Trailer Connector Adapter for Lamp-Out Sensor Bypass Stay In Place
Updated 12/29/2025 | Published 12/10/2025 >
Question:
When inserted into vehicle’s 7 way plug, how far does this adapter extend connection point for trailer? Any extra support required to maintain good connection with vibration?

Hey, Bill!
I'm going to attach some pictures for part # 20142 below to help explain how the adapter stays in place.
There is a tab at the top of the adapter where the lid of the 7-way on your vehicle will go over thus keeping it place. You can find a similar tab on your trailers 7-way. For example, the Bargman 7-Way Blade Trailer Wiring Harness part # BA68HR has a tab.
This tab helps keep any plug or adapter in place so when you hit a bump or drive on some rough roads, it will prevent the plug from coming out.

Hey Bill, how did the adapter hold up once you connected it to your vehicle’s 7-way plug? Did the tab keep everything secure even with some vibration on the road? Your feedback could help others looking for a steady connection setup.
