Will My Bed Rug Bedliner Interfere With The B&W Turnoverball Installation?

Updated 12/29/2025 | Published 12/01/2025

Question:

So I’m thinking about getting one of these BandW gooseneck turnover hitch receivers. I currently have a bed rug bedliner in my truck. Do I need to remove the bed rug completely before installing? Also I have a hard shell over the bed tonneau cover that is completely waterproof from the top. Is it necessary to still sand it down and spray cover up paint when it’s water tight already? Thanks again.

Hey Clayton,

The only thing you will have to do when installing the B&W Turnoverball, # BWGNRK1116, with that bed rug bedliner is to cut where the gooseneck ball would sit as well as the safety chain points. Otherwise there will be no issue with the bedliner. I am attaching a link to the installation instructions where it will show how to measure the bed for the gooseneck ball location which would show you where you need to cut (page 2).

With you having a water tight cover already it is not necessary, but may be a good safe thing to do anyway. You never know. What are you looking to tow?

Hey Clayton, how did things go with cutting the bed rug for your B&W Turnoverball hitch? Did the fit around the gooseneck ball and safety chain points turn out clean? Your update could make it easier for others working with a bed rug liner.
