Question:
Weve got a 1998 Logan Coach Ranger III with a Dexter 3500lb torsion axle. Had a electric brake short and fail. Need a brake plate, drum, wheel bearings, and axle nut for the RH side. Any other information I can provide? Unfortunately the wheel bearings were smoked when we took the wheel off so I cant get numbers off of them.

Hello Even, thanks for reaching out. The Dexter 3,500 lb axles use a standard brake size, drum size and bearings so we can absolutely provide what you need. Also, the best way to confirm this is by simply checking the casting number on one of the hubs. Drums should have a casting number right on the front, so all you have to do is remove one wheel to see it. The only reason I would really need it in this case would be to confirm the hub bolt pattern, so if you can get that casting number and/or verify the bolt pattern we should be good.
I do recommend replacing the brakes on both sides. Mainly to ensure you have even braking on both sides. You do not necessarily need to replace both drums, but I do recommend doing both. Plus they aren't terribly expensive. That being said, here is what I recommend:
- etrailer Electric Trailer Brakes - Self-Adjusting - 10" - Left/Right Hand Assemblies - 3.5K # AKEBRK-35-SA
- Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 3.5K Axles - 10" - 5 on 4-1/2 - Pre-Greased # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K
The hubs come with bearings but if you want an extra bearing kit that is part # BK2-100. Then the spindle nut is part # 165686.
If you do want just the RH side brake, that is part # AKEBRK-35R-SA.
