Let me start by saying this is not the first front receiver I've purchased from etrailer all my trucks get front receivers for winches. This time though the box shows up on time but the corner is blown open and the receiver is hanging out. Also the bag of bolts has been ripped open and half the bolts are loose in the open box but to my surprise after counting everything, they were all there.spray foam packing would have mitigated all that. Moving on. Went to install the receiver and the end mounting plates are 1/4 inch too tight. Won't fit the frame rails. Had to spread each side 1/8 out with a Hydraulic bottle jack. Apparently using a jig during the manufacturing process is optional these days. After all that I finally got it to fit good. It looks good and the welds seem adequate. I think it could have been installed in an hour by myself if not for having to "adjust" it but was still done in under 2 hours.

A year later. Still love it. Has a 13k winch mounted on it I use regularly and with the addition of snatch blocks Im sure Ive well exceed the rated pull for the hitch but have yet to damage it. Just get one already, you cant go wrong

The installation took several hours, very difficult to align the bolt holes, a lot of banging and prying. I had to spread the mounting flanges using a hydraulic jack about 1/4" just to get the hitch in place. The flanges may have been bent in during shipment. Once in place the hitch is quite solid. I will be using it to transport two 80lb ebikes.

This is the second front hitch receiver I have installed from Etrailer, and I am just as impressed with this purchase, as I was with the previous one.

One thing to note: the product states is not compatible with the brush guards, and that is not accurate. It was very troublesome to lineup both the brush guard supports, and the receiver supports with the frame. But it is doable with patience, an extra set of hands, and colorful use of the adult language. (installation w/o a brush guard was a cake walk)

I had my previous front hitch on an F150 for 5 years, and have had this one on my current F250 for a little over a year. They hold up very well, provide versatility to haul loads on the front of the truck, so you can fully utilize the bed, or tow a full trailer. This is now the first modification I suggest to new truck owners.

Hey Jacob. I'm glad that you were still able to get it to work with your brush guard. Sometimes colorful language helps. It looks awesome with your bike up front!

by:

great quality, easy install, perfect fit. works great to hold my front winch cradle.

by:

It was easy to install by myself with a floor jack. With winch added it has got me unstuck twice without having to call for help. Because it's above the bottom of bumper don't have to worry about dragging in the mud. I use the magnetic tag to hide it outside of hunting season. thanks Doug

Missing installation parts, had to delay a tight install window. Good product, poor QC on fulfillment.

by:
2012 Ford F-250 Super Duty

I don't know if my frame is wider for a reason, but this installation required 2 bottle Jack's and a floor jack in the middle. It was a very tight fit! That said, it worked great with my ranch hand brush guard and the mounting hardware all worked even though they use the same mounting points. I'm excited to start using it for winching and for a wheel-less trailer.

by:
2015 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Awesome piece of equipment. Install went just as the video showed. Will be carrying ebike rack which are heavy, and this hitch can handle it. Carrying bikes while towing is the reason for the added hitch. The tightness of the hitch to the frame was solved with a few taps of a sledge hammer, went right in afterwards. Definitely is a 2person job, however I did it by myself and a floor jack. Be patient and be prepared to move around on the ground back and forth. A good magnetic light helps to see to line up bolt holes. Go easy with the fish wires while taking bolts off ! I had to retwist the wires with needle nose pliers because I pulled them off ! Follow instructions and you can do it with patience at critical times !

2011 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Mounted the EcoHitch hidden front mount trailer hitch on 2011 Ford F 250 with a Ranch Hand Grill Guard. The Ranch Hand uses two of the same holes as the EcoHitch's four mounting holes. Getting the pieces lined up is a bit of a challeng although no modifacations were necessary. If I have the need to do it again I would let an installation shop do it. etrailer's customer service and commuication are excellent, shipping time and delivery were very fast.

This is exactly the product I needed to extend the hitch on my tent trailer. Now I can open the tailgate without unhitching the trailer.

2016 F250 crew cab 4x4 diesel, fit is perfect and all clearances were great, within 1/4”. No modifications needed but the tight fit meant I needed to use a jack for final fitment. Very happy with the results and is exactly what I needed. Thanks!

Arrived with all necessary parts and fit perfectly. The wire for fishing the bolts worked perfectly. So far so good. Didn’t take pictures of hitch itself but my winch is where I wanted it and did by myself in around 90 minutes.

The service at etrailer is excellent. My hitch arrived missing one part. I made one phone call and the part was sent right away. I have perched dozens of things from etrailer and only had problems twice and both times they were corrected.

by:
2015 Ford F-250 Super Duty

I installed by myself with jack and pri-bar, the only thing I found out was it was 2 person job but 1 can do with truck on rack or on a lift.
No problems working great and would install again if needed.

2016 Ford F-250 Super Duty

After doing some research on hitches, I decided to go with the EcoHitch on my 2016 F250. I liked how the hitch when installed was about the same height as the rear hitch and didn't sit low like other hitches. I also have a Ranch Hand grill guard installed there was no interference. There is another post on this site that shows a similar setup to what I have and based on his post, I decided to go with the same setup. I installed the hitch in about 2 hours and installed it by myself.

by:

Hitch was too short left to right. Holes would not align. M service texh needed to get on the road so we had to send to a shop to extend and make new holes. This product was supposed to fit the 2016 f250. It surely does not.

by:

Awsome product with a perfect fit!

by:

The package arrived on time and in good condition. All the hardware was present. I would have liked to have maybe 2 more of the bolt fish wires as they get very stretched when you undo them and they get stuck the bolt hole.

  • Can Ranch Grille Guard Fit with EcoHitch Front Hitch for 2016 Ford F-350
Hey Matt, so we don't have any install info on installing the EcoHitch front hitch part # EH59FR with the Ranch grille guard you have but if you've seen it done before it would have to be the way you described so I do believe you are on the right track.

  • Front Hitch for Parking 6,600 lb Trailer With 2014 Ford F-350
Hello Jonathan; since you're maneuvering the trailer into a tight spot on your lawn you need to go off of the gross trailer weight. The Draw-Tite Front Mount Hitch # 65049 maxes out at 5,000 lbs so you will need a hitch with a higher rating. The only option is the EcoHitch Hidden Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # EH59FR. This hitch has a gross trailer weight of 10,000 lbs so it won't have any issues handling your trailer. What kind of trailer do you have?

Instead you will want to use the EcoHitch Hidden Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver item # EH59FR which mounts upwards instead of hanging below. The 2" x 2" receiver would then extend out behind your license plate. The EcoHitch is a far better choice. This front hitch has a more concealed look and won't effect...

Although it mounts to the sides of the front frame members instead of the tow hooks, the EcoHitch # EH59FR front mounted receiver would install so that the receiver tube sits behind the license plate holder. The Curt # C31018 and Draw-Tite # 65049 would both install so the receiver tube sits below the bumper which reduces ground clearance, approach angle and would require that the front fascia/air dam be trimmed, so even though it won't bolt to the tow hook mounts, the EcoHitch option would...

The actual weight of the EcoHitch front hitch part # EH59FR is 57 lbs. The good news is that the weight of hitches does not count against the vehicle's weight capacity since essentially the hitch becomes part of the vehicle chassis and is not a hitch accessory that gets supported by the hitch.
