Recommendation to Stop Bounce When Towing Trailer With 2019 Toyota Tundra

Question:
Hello, I have a question regarding what I can do to my towing setup to improve a rhythmic bounce I have when driving on some highways and interstates. I have a 2019 Tundra and used to have a 2017 Expedition EL that I pull my 2018 Coleman 29’ bunkhouse camper with. Both vehicles experience a rear end bounce while driving on new paved concrete roads over 55mph. It is a constant rhythmic sickening bounce that doesn’t stop until road surfaces change. I use a Curtis weight distribution hitch and sway bar and the truck doesn’t squat to bad. The struts were replaced on both vehicles with no change. I have tried moving weight in the trailer forward and back with no change. The trailer is stock tandem axle basic leaf spring setup. I was wondering if the dampener style equalizers between the leaf springs could improve this? If you could point me to any products you have seen improve this issue I would much appreciate it.

Hey Steve, with this problem we have seen people have great luck fixing it by installing a Roadactive suspension kit like the part # RAS34FR that is a confirmed fit for your 2019 Toyota Tundra. The additional suspension support provided to the truck does a great job making that stop as well as has the side benefit of improving unloaded ride quality and handling as well. Did it seem any worse or better than your Expedition?

Jameson, thanks for the reply. I figured I could rule out the tow vehicle as the issue but you are probably right. The Expedition and Tundra bounce about the same. I was thinking about installing a RAS to help with squat, never expected it would improve the bounce. I have a friend with a similar Expedition and trailer who we travel with and they experience the same issue, but probably a bit worse. Is there anything that can be done to the Expedition, it has independent rear suspension.
