Will Timbrens Work on a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Trail Boss?

Updated 10/27/2025 | Published 10/04/2025

Question:

Hi there, I have had good luck with Timbren in the past and am considering the SES system for my ‘21 Chevy 1500 Trail Boss because at times I pull a travel trailer. My question is about the ride without any load. I t has a nice ride now and I don’t want it to be stiff. I never liked it with the airbags without a load, even when I deflated them to 10psi. Thanks.

Hey Kris. The Timbren Suspension Enhancement System item # T28MR is not compatible with the Trail Boss models of the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 so you'll need to go another direction. None of the suspension systems that replace or mount where the factory bump stops are work for that model.

Instead, I recommend the RoadActive Suspension item # RAS54FR will fit your 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 Trail Boss. It works to increase stability, handling, and control by improving traction and reducing sway. This system works while towing, carrying a heavy load in the bed, or completely unloaded. They install directly over your leaf springs and like air bags can be adjusted to your comfort level.

What kind of trailer are you pulling?

Thanks, Jerred - I’m just hoping it doesn’t stiffen the ride when I’m without a load. I am towing a 30’ travel trailer - around 6000 pounds with tongue weight less than 800. Kris

@Kris You're welcome! The RoadActive Suspension item # RAS54FR is adjustable for comfort with or without a load on your Silverado's rear end. It's the best option for a towing a trailer with a truck that comes with an off-road suspension package.

@JerredH Thanks so much for your replies. One more question - a friend with the same truck as me got the Torift Stable Load. What are your thoughts on that system compared to the Road Active System? Thanks again, Kris

@KrisM You're welcome! The TorkLift StableLoad item # TLA7310S allows the overload springs of your suspension to engage sooner to gain additional support whereas the RoadActive Suspension kit # RAS54FR basically adds an additional leaf spring to the setup. They both provide additional support so in a way they perform the same function but they do it in a different way. The item # RAS54FR can have additional support adjusted in as needed so I think it would be your best option. The TorkLift StableLoad item # TLA7310S is either engaged or off. It also has additional restrictions on your Silverado. You have to have a lower overload spring. It does not fit Regular Cab models and it may interfere with the dual exhaust if your truck has it.
