Will Hughes Power Watchdog Continue to Power RV if Surge Module is Blown?
Updated 09/30/2025 | Published 09/27/2025 >
Question:
I have installed a Hughes Watchdog PWD50-EPO-H Surge protector in my 2020 Solitude. If the surge module is blown for whatever reason, will power still get to the coach, or will it be inoperable until the surge module is replaced?

Hey Rick!
The Hughes Power Watchdog PWD50-EPO-H will continue to allow power to flow through it if the surge protector gets blown. The surge module is basically just there to make sure your RV doesn't get the "spike" of electricity in a bad situation.
Once the surge module is blown, you'll want to replace it with the Part # HU58FR so you get that protection back.
I confirmed all of this with my contact at Hughes. Hope this helps you out!
