Complete Replacement Wiring Setup for Lights and Brakes on a Trailer

Updated 10/22/2025 | Published 09/22/2025

Question:

I have an old farm trailer that needs all the wiring replaced. All the wiring components are missing or rotted away. The trailer has brakes on one axle so I need wiring for that. My question is do you have a full kit for wiring a 20ft trailer? 7 pin plug, break out block, electric brake controller, wiring, lights, etc.

Hey Jeff. We have all of those parts, and I have listed them below, but no there is no one and done kit for a 20' farm trailer's brakes and lights.

7-Way Connector and Junction Box - 7-Way Molded Trailer Wire Connector, 6' Long item # H20044 and Trailer Wiring Junction Box item # 38656

Breakaway Kit - Bright Way Trailer Breakaway Kit with Charger, LED Tester, and 5 Ah Battery item # 3802346

Brake Wire - Deka Jacketed 2 Wire, 10 Gauge, Brake Wire - per Foot item # 10-2-1

Butt Connectors - Heat Shrink Butt Connector - 12-10 Gauge - Qty 10 item # DW05745-10

Trailer Lighting Kit - Peterson Light Kit for Trailers Under 80" Wide - 20' Harness - Driver and Passenger item # M540

What kind of tow vehicle, year, make, and model, do you have? I can make a more accurate recommendation for a brake controller if I can get this information from you.

You can add this information and any other questions you have where it says Reply to Jerred H and I'll be happy to answer them.

Hey Jeff, how did things go getting your farm trailer rewired with the parts Jerred listed? Your update could make it easier for others tackling a full wiring replacement on an older trailer.
