Is it Normal for an Axle to be Installed Above as Well as Below the Leaf Springs?
Updated 09/30/2025 | Published 09/13/2025 >
Question:
I have a 10 ft utility trailer and need to replace the 4 leaf slipper springs. The current install has the axle on top of spring, between spring and trailer. Most installed instructions on new springs have the axle between spring and ground. Is either way acceptable?

Hey Jeff!
Yes, the axle can be installed either above the leaf springs or below the leaf springs - it all depends on if the spring seats are located above or below the axle.
I see you ordered the Spring Seat # TRSS175 from us recently. Are you having it welded onto the other side of your axle so you can swap where the axle is installed?

Looks like the current seat is in fine shape so I will not need to install new ones.
