What Causes Trailer Equalizer to Be Tilted and Not Flat

Question:
I bought a boat on this 2020 trailer a few weeks ago and this is what the spring system looks like on both sides. As you can see its rubbing hard under there. Ive never had one of my trailers do this. Are the springs flattening and getting longer or?

Hey Arnold, if your trailer is sitting level and the equalizer is off to one side like that that means the springs are too long or the front and rear hangers are too close together.
If the trailer is sitting level the easiest solution would be to go with a slightly shorter leaf spring. Someone could have installed too long of a spring on your trailer or like you said it stretched over time.
To pick out replacement springs you'll need to know the current axle capacity and the length of your current springs so you can go with slightly shorter ones.

Jameson, Can you help me identify my axle capacity? It appears by the GAWR these are 2960lb axles. They have a 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern but I need to be sure before placing an order. GVWR is 5920lbs, GAWR is 2960lbs, and Load Capacity is 4764lbs. My current springs are around 26" bolt center to bolt center. I say "around" because the 4 springs vary a little. It looks like 25" springs would make my shackles vertical again. My center pivot is 6" center to center of the bolt holes. My axles have a 2 1/2" diameter, It is 28 1/4" from the center of the pivot to the center of the rear leaf mount hole, the shackles center hole to center hole is 2 1/4". I want to order the whole kit not just the springs. Can you tell me exactly what I need or get me to a sales person who can? Thank you, Arnold
