Question:

I have a 2017 jeep grand Cherokee summit hemi and would like to install a trailer brake controller for pulling a single axle 3000lb travel trailer. The jeep has th trailer toe package. I need to purchase the wiring harness and controller. Please let me know the recommended controller and the wiring harness that connects the controller to the vehicles wiring harness. Thanks

Hi John!

Having the factory towing package on your 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit is going to make installing a brake controller a lot easier. We have a bunch of options available, but I think the best one is the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller w/ Custom Harness - Dash Knob - Up to 2 Axles - Proportional # RED24CR.

You will need to drill a small hole somewhere in the dash to mount the knob (see the included image of this controller knob mounted on a 2019 Grand Cherokee as an example), but it's worth it. The knob will be the only visible part of the controller after you plug the custom fit pigtail into a port under your dash and mount the main body of the controller up and out of the way. Being 6'5", I smack my knees on the controllers that hang down, so the Redarc options are my go-to controllers. Plus they also work really well and are easy to use and set up.

I have a single axle Sportsman Classic 191BHK travel trailer that has 250lb tongue weight and GVRW 3500lbs. Would a Fastway e2 Trunnion 92-00-0450 4.5k WDH fit for the weight of the trailer? Thanks

The e2 systems are the ones I tend to recommend the most as they do a very good job with weight distribution and sway control, plus this one has the perfect weight ratings for your camper.
