Question:
Looking for a hitch for my 2022 Audi Q8 so I can tow my 16.8inch fishing boat. My initail research tells me that I might want to just purchase the 391AUDQ818T and see if AUDI offers a OEM towing wiring kit so I can avoid some potential issues with using an aftermarket wiring kit. Thoughts/suggestions?

Hi Mike!
The Stealth Hitches Hidden Rack Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" # 391AUDQ818 will fit your 2022 Audi Q8, but I do need to mention that it cannot be used for towing. The receiver on it can only be used with bikes racks and cargo carriers. Things like that.
You can get the ball mount with part # 391BMU5S and then a 2" ball like # 40038 to get just those parts needed to tow, but if Audi doesn't have a wiring option, the # 391CONVE5 would include everything you need.
I definitely get not wanting to splice into the wiring and if Audi has a plug and play wiring harness, I say go for it. It will definitely be easier. The only wiring we have for your vehicle comes with the towing kit # 391CONVE5, which I will admit is pretty expensive.
What kind of fishing do you do? I need to upgrade my gear since it is pretty much all salt water gear being a transplant from Southern California. Not a lot of salt water here in Missouri. : P

Thanks Lazer: I ordered the Trailer Hitch Receiver w/ Towing and the wiring kit today. My buddy is a certified mechanic and obviously has a lift so I'm hoping this will go without a hitch :-). Do you think that I should have any concerns about towing a max of 3,000 lbs. (est. weight of my boat, motor, trailer, some of my gear, and a 30 pk of Busch Light)? As for fishing, I live in Wisconsin and chase walleye and muskie in the spring and fall (too many pleasure boaters out in the summer, but hey, there's room for all of us!). I recently retired and will spend the better part of late September until ice (11/15 or so). I also installed Garmin Pan Optics last year and three graphs. I often find myself just cruising around, watching my graphs, and scouting for new spots. Yes, I'm a lucky guy and count my blessings every day! Thanks again for your help and take care. Mike Ebben
