Updated 02/05/2026 | Published 08/21/2025

Question:

Can you please advise what the max psi rating is for the Lionshead Liger 15 inch 6 lug aluminum wheel, 6 on 5.5. Thanks. Usually it is stamped on the inside of the rim. The info is not in you product video. Thanks

Hey John, we've checked with Lionshead on this before and their Liger wheel part # LH49FR is not rated for a max PSI and instead is limited by whatever valve stem is used with the wheel. This wheel comes with a valve stem that is rated for up to 100 psi which should be more than enough as the trailer tires that fit this wheel are rated only up to 90 psi max.

Hey John, did the information about the valve stem and its 100 psi rating help you with your wheel setup? I'm asking because it could give others confidence when choosing the right components for their trailers.

My 5th wheel came with the LH49FR rims. I would like to replace the tires with a 14 ply tire. (I have had problems before with the stock tires blowing out. Last one totaled my RV.) What type of valve stem would be required to make this happen. I don't think I would go much higher than 100 psi (cold) in the tire. just worried about the pressures building up as I drive. Thanks Jazz!

@Jazz currently the highest ply rating we have for a 15 inch trailer tire is 10 but we do have some really high capacity tires like the part # AM10303 which are rated for up to 2,860 lbs at 80 psi. That really sucks to hear that your RV got totaled due to a blow out though. Usually tire failures are from heat build up that is created by either overloading their weight capacity, underinflating them, being too old (4-6 years is typically max) or exceeding the speed rating. Ply rating is more of an old school way of weight rating. What is the overall weight of your current RV?

@JamesonCthanks for the reply! My max weight is 9995. Dry is 7612. When I travel I normally carry water or if I do it’s only about 10 gallons. I’ve been very cautious with the weight I’m carrying! My blowout was with brand new tires from Goodyear and only traveling 58 mph when it blew. I plan on buying 2 extra rims to match what’s on my trailer for spares and replacing all 4 tires with Freedom Hailer 14 ply Duty Max All-Steel. I will use the current tires as spares! I’ve had bad luck on one section of interstate 85 where I’ve blown 3 tires in a 20 mile stretch. So I’m gun shy as I’m driving in that area! lol again thanks for your reply. Jazz
