Hi Greg!

As long as your 2016 Smart fortwo is not an electric model, we have the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # RM-52300-5 that is a direct fit. This is a Roadmaster direct connect style base plate, so you want a tow bar that can attach properly. I included an option below as well as all the other parts you will need to get a full set up put together, in case you needed them.

I listed the Battery Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25 as an optional part as it isn't 100% needed as you will be disconnecting you battery when flat towing. However, if you go with a braking system, they can drain your battery and the charge line will keep that from happening. The braking system is also technically optional in some states, but not all. I included 2 permanent options as the # SM99251 is for hydraulic brakes on the towing vehicle and the # SM99243 is for air brakes on the towing vehicle.

Should have said blue ox, all of my tow equipment is blue ox. so is there a blue ox base plate for a smart car, a standard gas engine.

@GregM No worries! I could have asked too. : P The Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # BX2004 will hook right up to your Blue Ox tow bar and is designed for the gas engine 2016 Smart fortwo. I would still go with Roadmaster for the wiring though. Theirs just tends to hold up better than everyone else's.
