Question:
What is the difference between RM-52923-5 Direct connectinch vs RM-52923-4? The video recommends the -5, but when I look for a 2018 Subaru Forester 2.5i 6 manual trans, it shows the -4 part number. The -5 doesnt show stock.

Hi Carl, the difference is in the style of base plate. The # RM-52923-4 is the crossbar style which also requires the Replacement Quick Disconnect Crossbar Assembly for Roadmaster Tow Bars # 910021-00. The # 52923-5 is the direct connect style so a tow bar like the # RM-522 mounts directly to the arms.
I would definitely choose the direct connect over the crossbar style. The reason this does not show stock right now is because Roadmaster is out of stock. Our ETA shows about a month at this time. That is also why you aren't seeing it on the list when you pull up base plate kits in our fitguide.
In addition to the base plate kit and tow bar you will need safety cables, wiring, and a supplemental braking system. I recommend the following for your 2018 Subaru Forester:
-Roadmaster 64" Single Hook, Straight Safety Cables # RM-645
-Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267
-Demco Stay-IN-Play Duo Flat Tow Brake System for RVs w/ Hydraulic Brakes # SM99251
(Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-88400 is also required)
or
-Demco Air Force One Flat Tow Brake System for RVs w/ Air Brakes # SM99243
You may also need a high-low adapter to keep your setup level. I have attached an article below which explains how to measure. I also included a link to our available adapters.

Robin, Thanks for the explanation. I already have the Replacement Quick Disconnect Crossbar Assembly, with the setup for the rock guard. It was a complete setup except for the toad attachments. I'll be ordering the RM-52923-4 to be able to use my existing setup on the 2018 Subaru Forester. Sorry for the delay. I was looking to see if there were setups for the car, before I went and bought one. I'm ordering the tow bar, lights, and a rear hitch shortly. Carl
