Can Malone MPG481 Trailer Storage Trunk Be Opened With Acessories Installed On Crossbars?

Question:

With the storage trunk and j-racks and/or the bike rack installed on the ecosport trailer, can you get in and out of the storage trunk? It looks like j-racks and a bike rack would impede access to the storage trunk.

Hello Bill, thanks for reaching out. The Malone MPG481 Trailer Storage Trunk # MPG481 will fit the Malone EcoLight Sport Trailer # MAL53FR you ordered. As you observed, accessories on top of the crossbars will prevent the trunk from opening. With the J-racks installed you would just need to take the kayaks off and you would be able to open the trunk. With the bike rack installed it would stop the trunk from opening unless you have the rack positioned off to the side where it would not obstruct the lid.

Hey Bill, did you find a way to position the bike rack so that it doesn't block the storage trunk on your EcoLight Sport Trailer? I'm curious because it might help others with similar setups.
