Question:

I need a longer bolt for my Yakima Getaway bike rack. It came with a 1 1/4 tongue but my new car has a 2 hitch. I got a 2 adapter but the bolt is too short. Can you help?

I can most definitely help. Since you now have a 2" receiver, you will want the Replacement Hitch Bolt for Yakima HoldUp 2, OnRamp, and BigHorn Bike Racks and DryDock Canoe Carrier # Y8890200.

Do you have a specific trail you like to take your bikes to? We have the Katy Trail here in Missouri and it is always loaded with bikes!

Kate Thank you but I want to be sure on this. I looked at a picture of the bolt you recommended and the threads look big. I think my bolt is finer threads. Can you double check please before I order? Thank you.

@BobG I am going to reach out to Yakima to confirm. The # Y8890200 is listed to fit the Getaway: 8002527. Just to clarify, you have the Getaway for the 1 1/4" receiver but now have a 2" receiver so you are using a sleeve reduce it down to a 1 1/4"?

@KateF0 My Getaway has a 1 1/4" tongue. My car has a 2" receiver. I put an adapter on the tongue to make it 2" I think we're saying the same thing.

@Bobg I heard back from Yakima, they said it might work. This was her response to me: "The 8890200 bolt MIGHT work, but this rack is over 25 years old, so I'm not sure what the treading was on them. We have no other spare parts available for this rack since it hasn't been manufactured since 2000." If you order the Replacement Hitch Bolt for Yakima HoldUp 2, OnRamp, and BigHorn Bike Racks and DryDock Canoe Carrier # Y8890200 and it doesn't work, I will send you a return label for a full refund. Please let me know what you decide to do, I am eager to know if this will work. If we have a Getaway here I would go check for myself....... but we do not.
