Can Thule OutPace 2 Bike Carrier Be Used On Motorhome Or On Flat Towed Vehicle?

Question:

Does it work on an RV or towed vehicle? We flat tow a CR-V behind our motorhome.

Thanks for checking, Angie. While the Thule Outpace 2 Bike Rack # TH39SA is rated for passenger vehicles and motorhomes, it’s not currently approved for use on flat-towed vehicles like your CR-V in tow. The added torque from towing can stress the rack, so we’d recommend going with an RV-rated model like the Hollywood Racks RV Rider Bike Rack # HLY64FR if you need it to ride while towed. You can absolutely use the Outpace when driving the CR-V or motorhome on its own, though!

If you are dead set on the Outpace, there is a way to make it work on the back of the motorhome while flat towing, with the Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter # RM-077-4. Only thing is, you'll need to make sure you have the turning clearance. With the Outpace and dual adapter together, you're going to need a minimum of 40-1/4" of clearance between the motorhome's receiver and the tow vehicle when turning. You should be ok but I would measure first.

Where are you planning on traveling this summer?

Hey Angie, did you get a chance to check the turning clearance for your setup with the Outpace and dual adapter? I'm curious to know if it worked out for your travels, as it could help others in a similar situation!
