Question:
I could use guidance please. I built a 2024 Transit 350 AWD not dual rear wheels into a travel van. My GVWR is 9400 and I’m at about 8600, fully loaded. It sways a little bit on curvy roads, such as Tennessee and N Carolina. Next year I’m taking it to Alaska. I’ve considered a rear sway bar but I see you also sell an add-on additional rear leaf spring, which claims to help with sway as well as additional suspension strength. Which makes more sense? I’m leaning towards the additional spring because the sway isn’t terrible, just annoying. Thoughts? Thanks very much

Hello Mike, thanks for reaching out. Is the rear of your van sagging at all? The SuperSprings Custom Suspension Stabilizer and Sway Control Kit # SSA43 is more for reducing sagging which will in turn help with stability, handling and sway reduction. This kit is a solid solution for minor sagging and minor sway.
If the rear end is not sagging noticeably and you are still experiencing sway, an aftermarket sway bar will do more to reduce sway compared to the SuperSprings kit. The sway bars are more for moderate to severe sway. They do a great job preventing it, but they do nothing to reduce sagging. The Roadmaster # RM82EQ is for single rear wheels, or use the Hellwig # HE44YR if you have dual rear wheels.
It sounds like your sway problems are not too bad, so I am thinking the SuperSprings # SSA43 kit will be more suited for your needs. They are fairly easy to add on and require no maintenance over time. Should help to make that long drive to Alaska more comfortable.
I went to Alaska back in 2010 and it was amazing. I have been wanting to go back ever since. Whereabouts in Alaska are you headed?

Thanks for your input- You reinforce what I’m thinking. The rear of the van doesn’t really have noticeable sagging and the sway isn’t too bad. I just don’t like being at the edge of a potential problem. We flew to Anchorage two years ago and traveled all around the Kenai peninsula. Now I want to see some more remote territory and spend a whole summer there. I built the van for this trip, as well as getting away from Michigan in the winter! I’ll be ordering that spring kit soon- thanks very much
