Hello Troy, thanks for reaching out. It may be possible to add brakes to your axle, as long as your axle is equipped with a brake flange. It will look like a square plate with four holes at the base of the spindle. If no brake flange is present, then can be welded on by an axle shop, or your axle can be replaced with one that is brake-ready.

If the brake flange is present, brakes can be added. Here is what you will need:

- etrailer Electric Trailer Brakes - 7" - Left/Right Hand Assemblies - 2,000 lbs # AKEBRK-2

- Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 2K Axles - 7" Diameter - 5 on 4-1/2 - L44643 - Pre-Greased # AKHD-545-2-1K

- etrailer Trailer Wiring 7-Way Upgrade Kit w/ Junction Box and RV Style Connector # e99011

- Hopkins Engager Trailer Breakaway Kit w/ Charger, LED Tester, Hardware, and 5 Ah Battery - Top Load # 20400

You will also need a brake controller in your tow vehicle. The Tekonsha P3 # 90195 is what I recommend for that.

I have included a link to our guide on adding electric brakes to a trailer. It will be a great starting point for your project.
