Best Setup for Flat Towing 2024 Chevrolet Colorado Trail Boss With Blue Ox Tow Bar

Updated 08/07/2025 | Published 07/08/2025

Question:

I recently bought a Chevy Colorado trail boss. I am trying to figure out the best set up for flat towing. I already have a blue ox tow bar so will use a blue ox base plate. The grey area is which breaking system and disconnect that works best. Any help on specific systems that work well with a Colorado would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hey Donald! I would be happy to help you get the best parts together to flat tow you Chevy Colorado. Is this the 2024 model? I saw you had a 2024 Silverado in the fitguide so I want to be sure that is correct. You already have your Blue Ox tow bar so for the rest of the setup I recommend the following:

-Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # BLU85CR

-Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-15267

-Roadmaster Battery Disconnect for Towed Vehicle w/ Flat Tow Brake System # RM-766

-Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-156-25

-Demco Stay-IN-Play Duo Flat Tow Brake System for RVs w/ Hydraulic Brakes # SM99251

OR

-Demco Air Force One Flat Tow Brake System for RVs w/ Air Brakes # SM99243

The two Demco systems are definitely the best option for a brake system. I see you already looked at the Air Force One. Do you have air brakes on the motorhome? If so, this is the system to get. If they're hydraulic then you want the Stay-IN-Play Duo instead. For the disconnect and wiring I always trust Roadmaster since they're the most reliable.

Hey Donald, how did the setup go with your Chevy Colorado? Did the Demco brake system and Roadmaster products work well for you? I'm curious to know because it could really help others in a similar situation.
