What Is The Best Way To Go About Airing Up My Airbags On My 2015 Tacoma With A Truck Bed Camper?

Updated 09/02/2025 | Published 06/29/2025

Question:

2015 Toyota Tacoma DCLB I just installed the airlift AL49DQ air bags so i can comfortably haul a truck bed camper thats ~1000lbs. What psi shall I pump the airbags up to? It is best to add air before loading the camper Im assuming. Any other helpful information that you may have would be welcomed.

Hey Zach,

For The # AL49DQ there is not a set psi that you air up to with loads. It all depends on your vehicle and what it needs to get back to level height. Since you are going to want to get the Tacoma back to level height it is recommended to put the camper in and then air up. That way you will air up the airbags until your vehicle is back to level. Then moving forward you can just keep track of that psi and fill it up to that every time.

You can also air them up, put the camper in and then deflate or adjust to what is needed. I think loading first then airing up is going to be more efficient. What kind of truck bed camper do you have?

Hey Zach, Did you find that loading the camper first and then adjusting the air pressure worked well for leveling your Tacoma? I’m asking because your experience could really help others who are setting up their trucks for similar loads.
