Question:
Hi, Im almost ready to purchase a trailer hitch for a 2016 DGC but have a couple questions. One hitch says trimming of facia may be required, another says undercar trimming required not fascia Can you explain the difference? Also, can the rear vehicle be jacked at the hitch? raising both rear wheels Thanks.

Hey Robert,
I took a look at the instructions for the # e98854, which labels it as fascia trimming, and the # 75579 that just says underbody. They are both referring to the same area of the vehicle that may need to be trimmed. It is referring to a plastic mud flap in the rear that needs to be trimmed on the Town and Country trims of the Grand caravan. It is just a difference of verbiage when describing what needs to be trimmed, its the same on all hitches.
In terms of jacking the vehicle up, although it is physically possibly to it is not recommended to jack the vehicle up by the rear trailer hitch. It is never recommended to rely on the hitch to support the vehicles weight. It may cause damage to the hitch itself or even the vehicles chassis.
What are you looking to use the hitch for?

Right now I'll only be using the hitch for an ebike carrier. It seemed like the hitch would make an easy spot to raise jacking the van. It's hard to get an answer what's the best spot but I certainingly don't want to mess anything up. I ended up buying the etrailer hitch. Thanks
